The Fraser Valley Marine Society is a non-profit society set up to raise funds and help support the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary – Pacific Unit 102. Our mission is to increase awareness of the role of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary and to raise funds in pursuit of the Unit’s goals.

The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Pacific is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to boating safety awareness and marine search and rescue. Our local volunteer group, Unit 102 Fraser Valley, operates as a boating safety unit providing boating safety education and awareness to the general public.  We are 16 volunteers strong and growing. These volunteers freely donate their time and expertise to promote boating safety throughout the communities of the Fraser Valley.

Non-government funded boating safety awareness auxiliary units are not uncommon in Canada. Many industrialized countries rely on volunteer organizations for such services. The Fraser Valley Marine Society (F.V.M.S.) is a registered charity with the sole purpose to fund boating safety education and awareness to the communities throughout the Fraser Valley.  Funds are raised through charitable donations from community organizations and corporations.  Without this community and corporate support we could not supply the tools and vital education towards boating safety awareness.

The auxiliary attends a number of community special events, such as “Boating Safety Awareness Days.” These events provide the public with information and advice regarding boating safety as well as safety inspections.  These courtesy examinations are offered free of charge to the public by our specially trained members to ensure boating safety on our waterways.

Unit 102 Fraser Valley volunteers are responsible for a large geographical area that encompasses the Fraser River from the Pitt River Bridge to Hope and all the inland waterways in between. The Fraser Valley Unit does not currently have a community boat. Our goal is through community support and donations to acquire a community vessel as soon as possible. The acquisition of a vessel is vital to allow us to provide the best possible boating safety and education while on the water.

The Fraser Valley Marine Society (F.V.M.S.) along with its volunteers are looking forward to your support keeping the waterways safe and fun for everyone.
