Published by FVMS Admin

The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary – Pacific Unit 102 programs encourage safe boating practices to all age groups which helps prevent Search and Rescue incidents.

Among these programs are:

  • Pleasure Craft Courtesy Checks which verify suitable safety equipment is on board a vessel. Performed free of charge by specially trained Coast Guard Auxiliary members.
  • Kids Don’t Float, a program that provides loaner Personal Flotation Devices (PFD’s) free of charge at select boating locations and helps educate parents, children and teachers about the importance of water safety;
  • Bobbie the Safety Boat, a remote controlled land based training aid that captures the imagination of children and teaches them the importance of safety near or on the water; and
  • The Boating Safety Trailer, a 45-foot semi-trailer that serves as a mobile boating safety display.  It is fully equipped with safety equipment and educational material and attends at numerous community events to provide the public with information and advice regarding boating safety and safety inspections.
